We had a great weekend with Troy's parents and Maw!
They got to our house late Friday evening and we enjoyed visiting with them. Maw hadn't seen our place yet so it was fun showing her around and giving her a "tour".
We stayed busy Saturday… just like all the Watsons like to be!
We trimmed our bushes with their tools they brought along just like last time they came to visit :) haha
We ran some errands.
We went and ate lunch at Interstate BBQ.
It was really good!
Maw, Hicks, and Denise got a HUGE platter with all different types of meats and sides and shared. Troy got their bbq spaghetti--which I was very tempted to get as well but I ended up getting a pork sandwich, fries, and slaw.
It was really good and enjoyed by all! Its fun trying different bbq places in Memphis. (T and I's favorite is still Central… we've tried many bbq joints since moving here, but Central still remains our fav!)
After lunch we went to Graceland!
I had never been so I was excited to go.
It was very interesting to learn all about Elvis's life and I really enjoyed the tour!
Two things that I really admire about Elvis was the fact that he served our country in the Army and how large of a philanthropist and humanitarian he was. In the mansion they showed checks he had written for numerous charities, including Goodwill, The Salvation Army, Orange Mound Nursery, LeBonheur Club, and St. Jude Hospital. I loved learning about his generosity in the Memphis community and beyond.
Another side note: Elvis bought the Graceland Mansion when he was 22… I asked Troy, "Where is our mansion… we're 22?!?!" ;)
Its crazy to see professional interior decorating in the 70's… Yikes! haha
After touring Elvis's mansion and surroundings including his car museum and his two jets, we headed to the movies (its not a Watson function unless there is a board/card game and/or a trip to the movies!) and saw "Trouble with the Curve". We all really enjoyed it!
For dinner we went to one of our favs, Huey's, and then watched the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game at our house.
Sunday, they headed home, Troy and I went to church, then came home and watched the Cowboys game.
T making his favorite thing to eat while watching the Cowboys… hot wings!
And… the Cowboys won!
We had a great weekend with our family! We are so very blessed!
