How 'Bout Them Cowboys?!

Just a little info: The Watson crew are huge Dallas Cowboys fans.

By marriage, I have now become an official fan as well.

Last night was the first game of the season against the NY Giants. I am happy to inform all that the Cowboys won!!

Troy had a few of his Pharm friends over to watch the game--Nick and Keegan.

We had "Hanky Panky"--Leslie's signature dip that us girls loved eating in high school, salsa, two different types of chicken wings, kettle corn, and chocolate chip cookies.

When Troy said he was going to invite Nick and Keegan over to eat and watch the game, I immediately started to think of what to make. Troy for sure wanted wings--his dad always makes hot wings for Cowboy's games.

I thought I'd pair the wings with some type of dip and thought "hanky panky" would be perfect. Thanks for the recipe, Les!! (It made it to the blog! :))

Here is the recipe to make hanky panky…

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb sausage
1 lb Velveeta cheese (I think next time I'll do the full 2 lbs-- I like it to be extra cheesy!)
1 tsp. worchestire sauce
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
2 Tbsp. milk
Frito's Scoops/tortilla chips (I like it better with scoops!)

Directions:
First brown the sausage and hamburger meat and put it in the crock pot.
Then add the rest of the ingredients.
Cook on low and serve with Frito's Scoops or tortilla chips!

Troy made his dad's "hot wings"--a combo of butter, Louisiana hot sauce, and cayenne pepper, and I made honey BBQ wings. T really didn't use a recipe, but I did. Thought I'd share…they were really good if I do say so myself! :)

Ingredients:
For dry rub:
1 bag (64 oz/4 lb) of chicken wings
3 tsp. kosher salt
3 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. paprika (I used chili powder because I thought I had paprika then realized I didn't!)
1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
cooking spray

For sauce:
1 c. BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray's)
1/2 c. honey
2 Tbsp. ketchup
2 Tbsp. Louisiana hot sauce
4 Tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Thaw out chicken wings if frozen.
Combine dry rub and season wings.

Cover a cookie sheet/jelly roll pan with aluminum foil, spray with cooking spray, and place wings in a single layer on the foil and place in oven.

Cook for 35-40 minutes, depending on size of wings/wing directions, turning once.
While wings are cooking, mix ingredients together to make sauce.
When the wings are done, carefully dip them in the sauce and place back in oven for 5-10 minutes--until sauce is bubbling.

Ta-da! The flavor of the spices and the BBQ sauce and the sweetness of the honey--finger lickin' good :)

Its that time… officially football season.

ESPN is telling me it is.

My calendar is telling me it is.

Dr. Pepper is telling me it is.

Even Tide is telling me it is! ;)

I hope all the teams we root for have successful seasons!

(Side note: T and I have started watching FNL on his xfinity app on his iPad. We're still on the first season… I know people love it, I'm enjoying it okay so far…)
