Like I said, we had a good time back in Hendersonville with our families over T's fall break.
Troy said it was a GREAT break away from studying… and that he feels rejuvenated and ready to start back up with all the studying.
I was terrible at taking pictures… not that we did anything TOO exciting, but I still wish I had documented our visit.
Wednesday we drove in and Troy went straight to Ellis to play basketball. I got my Mom to meet me there and we went and got dinner together, just us since Dad was in San Diego, and ran some other places. Its always great to spend time with my Momma!!
Thursday I had a doctor's appt in Green Hills at 8:50. I figured Troy wanted to sleep in since it was his "break", so I got my mom to go with me and we spent our day out there… eating and shopping. That night Troy had dinner with Jarret and Joey. When the boys got back, we talked in the kitchen for a while… reminiscing about our high school days. Good times, hilarious stories.
Friday was a full day! Troy and I kept Averi (hence all the pictures I took of her on Friday morning and posted on here)… well, he really kept her all day… I had another doctor's appt in the afternoon (just trying to cram it all in during the visit!), so he had her while I was gone.
As I was about to leave Nashville to head back home… I was sent these pictures.
He had taken her to the park after they had lunch! I hated I missed out on that! P.S. He got her dressed because she was still napping when I left for my appt. I was thoroughly impressed… he picked out her bow that matched her outfit perfectly and even picked out that cute jacket! Uncle T, you rock!
That night we celebrated Troy's birthday with his family by going to dinner and a movie. I cannot believe he will be 23 the beginning of next month!! Aren't we 18 years old… seniors in high school?!!
Saturday morning the boys played ball AGAIN so Brittany and I took A to the pumpkin patch to take some cute fall pictures. I'll have to post the rest once I'm finished tinkering with them!
That night we went out to dinner with my dad's side of the family to celebrate my Nana and Pappy's 50th! What a blessing it is to have 2 grandparents that have been married for so long… and still enjoy spending time with each other :) They headed off to FL today, as they usually do in the fall/winter… they are the definition of "snowbirds" :)
Here are some pictures my Mom took from the night…
After dinner, my parents invited all over for coffee and cheesecake.
| 50 years of marriage… and not quite half a year :) we gotta long way to go, T! |
| And of course we had to get a picture with Courtney and Macy! |
Shortly after that, Troy and I headed back on i-40 west to Memphis.
And today started my time with the Wright family. Please keep Janie in your prayers as she is having surgery in Cincinnati. You can keep up with her through Paige's blog!
Madeline and I made cupcakes today...
And John David had a big day by winning first in all his events at his swim meet AND exploring the chicken coop for eggs :) (Chicken eggs we used to make the funfetti cupcakes! I felt so wholesome baking with fresh eggs… minus all the sugar, haha)
And to close out this post with 2 funny stories:
Troy and I had planned on running in The Color Run this weekend. I found out about this 5k early in the year and knew I'd love to run in it if it came to Nashville. Eventually, on their site, they posted that it was going to come to Nashville… it just didn't say when. FOREVER (or so it felt) next to Nashville it read "coming soon". I noticed that other cities were becoming "sold out" pretty quick so I was anxious to know when sign-ups for Nash were opening, because I didn't want it to sell out and us to have missed the opportunity. I found a link that allowed you to sign up to receive emails about certain race locations to keep you updated. Sooo back in March… I signed up to receive emails about the race and when registration would open for the Nashville run. On May 15th I finally received an email that the registration was opening today… later that evening. This is what it read…
GREAT NEWS COLOR RUNNERS!
We will be opening our Nashville run for registration TODAY at 6 CENTRAL TIME!
The official race date will be on October 20, 2012!
So when the time came, I immediately signed up for me and Troy to run the race. Fast forward to this Friday. I receive an email from The Color Run going over all the details--pre race document info, packet pickup info, etc. and it referred to the race being on Sunday. I told myself, this is a typo. After all, my email they sent me back in May said the run would be on October 20th--which is Saturday. Plus, I've never heard of a race being held on a Sunday morning. I continue to read the email… yet another reference to the race being on Sunday! So I go to the main website, look up info about the Nashville race, and sure enough it says Sunday, October 21, 2012. So… long story short, the race was scheduled for Sunday, although the original email said that the race would be on Saturday. Needless to say, we didn't run in the race as planned. Oh well! You win some, you lose some!
And another funny story… As I'd been at the Wrights since before noon, I kept thinking to myself… I haven't seen Ralph (their cat). I really didn't think much of it… as Ralph kinda keeps to himself and many-a-times, hides under chairs and/or couches and sleeps. It'd come to my attention… like "where is Ralph"… but then I'd be redirected towards something else. Finally I ended up saying something to John David. I told him I had yet to see him today! John David figures he's upstairs in the bonus room and goes up there to check. No Ralph. We end up looking all upstairs and down stairs… even go outside to see if he somehow got out the door. No Ralph. I begin to get really worried. I would HATE to have lost Ralph… especially with Paige and Hank out of town for Janie's surgery. I'm literally opening all the cabinets in the kitchen to see if somehow he worked his way in them when I hear a faint "meow". I tell JD I PROMISE I just heard a "meow". We continue to look… and continue to hear faint meows. John David finally ends up finding him in the closet by the garage door! We were all so happy to see him! More than likely he had been in that closet since before Hank, Paige, and Janie left for the airport… probably around 7 hours! I told John David I was surprised he hadn't started meowing earlier! Poor thing! He is good now… climbing on the furniture :)
Anywhoooo...
Goodnight, all!
P.S.S. I feel like I've gotten lazy with my grammar and sentence structure. Lots of run-ons and fragments and craziness with capitalization. For all you English grammar nazis out there… I'm sorry! My posts are probably driving you bonkers!
