September 23rd

September 23rd was suppose to be our puppy's birthday!

But… things have not gone as planned.

Back in August, we got word that she had started her heat cycle. August 2nd and August 10th.

They took her to their reproductive vet to help monitor and check her hormone levels and discovered that she was still not ready to breed. They said they were going to board her so that hormone testing could be done every 3 days until she was ready. August 22nd.

September 1st. We got info that Diva's hormonal level had finally started climbing and that she would hopefully be ready to breed the following week.

Then September 12th we received this:

(if you really know me, like really know me…. all this hormone levels and progesterone talk sounds all too familiar!)

Poor baby being boarded for 3 weeks! :(
I think my body would get all outta whack, too!

The breeder was apologetic that things were not going as planned, although to me she isn't really to blame. Its just not happening as anticipated. And there's really no timeline.

"I know this is nerve wracking for you-it is for me and I'm not planning for bringing a puppy home or explaining to my children why their puppy won't be ready when originally expected."

Thennnnnn we received this on September 18th:

We were feeling confident….

Then read this September 24th:

So as of now, Zeus--the stud went to their house yesterday, and we're still playing the waiting game.

Whew… what a whirl wind! All over this puppy…
As the Backstreet Boys would say, "Quit playing games with my heart!"
I know, know, know T and I will get our puppy… one day!
It may not work with this breeder and this litter and I'm fine with that.
We will just get our deposit back and move on.

And in reality, the later we wait to get our puppy at this point, the better off we may be. Us getting a puppy in December/January isn't really ideal since we will be moving and transitioning during those months anyway.

Just like my 4 year old's bible verse for this week says…

"God's way is perfect." Psalm 18:30

and it really is.
His way can be long, winding, confusing, "not fair", patience-requiring, initially-disappointing, but always, always, always in the end--perfect.
