Life is good.
We survived the ice storm last week.
Fun times.
I was a nervous wreck with Troy driving into town during it. And the fact that he worked that evening so he would be driving late at night when the temps had severely dropped. Mother hen over here sent him with a pair of gloves and an extra bottle of water incase he got stuck! Me… worrying?! Never!! ;-)
This was my car. Completely covered in ice. Including my door handle being completely frozen shut. It took me a solid 30 minutes to finally defrost the windshield. I could never live any farther north that I currently do. Cold is not my thing.
Also in line with the "ice storm"--our phones alarmed simultaneously at 4 AM sending us an alert of the ice storm. We later learned this happened because we have the "government alerts" setting turned on our phones. That was an alarming awakening.
I was talking to Mom later that day and she said she had gone to lunch at Panera with friends after their bible study and all of a sudden tons of siren-sounding phone alarms went off all at the same time. She said it was funny because it was all at the same exact time--everyone (with an iPhone) began looking at their phone. She said it was startling, too. My response to her was imagine the same thing happening… at 4 am when you're dead asleep!! I thought our security alarm was going off and someone had entered our home!
Although I wasn't (at the time) a huge fan of the ice storm warning my phone provided, I do love one thing.
FaceTime.
Love it.
It allowed me to do this on Friday…
See my niece-puppy...
and spend sometime with Troy as he spent his whole day studying at school
There's lots of good TV watching now.
I'm currently keeping up with The Bachelor and American Idol.
That rose. So incredibly cheesy. Oh me.
But I really like Sean. Can't say I have a favorite girl yet. Maybe Desiree. I don't really know. (Laine, I need to know who you are rooting for. You are my Bachelor talk "go-to".)
And I love Keith Urban and his judging. To me, he doesn't really belong on the AI judging panel. He has too much raw, real talented and is too down to earth compared to the other judges. But anywho, he rocks.
Troy is taking personal finance as his elective this semester. Much of this class is watching sessions of Dave Ramsey's "Foundations in Personal Finance". I've been watching it with him, too. We love it. We love Dave. He rocks, too.
I told Dad we were watching Dave. His three questions to me:
"Are y'all learning about baby steps?"
"Are y'all doing the envelope system?"
"Has he said, 'Debt is dumb. Cash is king'?"
Dad knows his Dave.
Luckily, we were raised by parents who have practiced and instilled in us many healthy money management skills. Thanks, parents!
We kept sweet Lucy a night this weekend. She's a snuggler. Like completely under the covers, curled up by your side snuggler. Reminds me of Macy. Must be a yorky thing.
Madeline turned 6 this week!!!
Her party was a Pump It Up on Sunday.
When they mentioned to her that I was there at the party, her response was "Yeah! And she brought her boyfriend!" Hahaha, also known as my husband.
And 2 more pics of some cuties just because…
(I am realizing I've almost completely stopped using my Canon due to the easiness of using my phone. I need to start picking up my real camera again!!)
And this, just because its pretty. The sunset of our backyard the other night.
And last but not least, I've started working at the clinic part time as of last week.
And I love it.
(I google The Pet Hospitals and I get pics of M and Goldbug and JD and Odie. Love it.)
(sidenote: I have 4 pictures of dogs on this post. Oy vey. Maybe next Christmas T and I will have one for our own. We are hopeful.)
I'm a weirdo and love doing "office type things".
If I could have majored in "administrative assistant" I totally would have.
Sticky notes, paper clips, scanning, and data entry is just my thing.
And that's all I got!
