110 days

This past week has been filled with friends and for that I am thankful! I had lunch with Katie on Wednesday at Jacksons. It was so great to catch up with her! Later that night I had mexican with Leslie and Laine. We could seriously talk for hours (and we did). I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time. Especially about stucco. And then Saturday night I had dinner at Satco with Sara for her 23rd birthday! Because I'm not in college and I'm at home now, spending time with friends doesn't happen as much as it use to, so when I am able to have dinner and/or visit with friends, it truly is precious.

Side note: I got Sara the cutest little dish towel for her birthday from a little antique store. I told her with my wedding registry mentality, I find myself liking and looking at more home goods. Love this little handmade towel!

Pinterest continues to be an addiction of mine. I've done about three projects this week that have either come from Pinterest or my inspiration was from Pinterest. This is one that I did Friday night. It didn't come from Pinterest exactly, but I think because of browsing on the site so much, when I found this white-distressed frame from T.J. Maxx on sale for $15 (with this ugly floral painting inside), I already started to form an idea in my head of what I'd do with it. Here is my finished product (T.J. Maxx "chunky" frame, same paint used on our kitchen walls, stencils from Michael's, and black acrylic paint)

I'll have to post my other three projects I did this week sometime soon!

This came in the mail this week... my LICENSE!

Last night Reece had about 14 of his Lipscomb friends over for the Super Bowl. We had a great time meeting them. Mom and I especially loved talking with the girls (there were about 9 girls and 5 guys... typical Lipscomb ratio). Mom and I spent late Saturday and all day after church Sunday getting the house and food ready. We made our typical "party" and finger foods... black bean and corn salsa, rotel, pigs in a blanket, cream cheese roll ups, chocolate covered pretzels, fruit pizza, Zaxby's chicken (we didn't make that obviously! haha), ham and swiss sweet rolls, hot fudge cake, etc. but I made two new/different recipes from... you guessed it... Pinterest!

I made the pizza croissant rolls (if you're on Pinterest I'm sure you've seen them... you take croissant dough and roll pepperonis and sections of string mozzarella cheese... cook them til golden brown, then brush this combo of butter, Italian seasonings, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese when they come out warm... then serve with marinara or ranch for dipping) They were a big hit.

The other recipe I tried was called Mississippi sin dip. Here are the ingredients/directions:

16 oz sour cream
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup chopped ham
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
French bread loaf

In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients (except bread). Stir until well blended.

Cut a thin slice from top of bread loaf; set slice aside. Using a sawing motion, cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of the loaf, 1/2 inch from the edge, to cut out the center of bread. Lift out center of loaf. Fill hollowed bread loaf with the dip. Wrap with foil.

Bake dip at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve with reserve bread cubes, crackers, or potato chips (we served with pita chips).

The dip ended up turning out good... it just took a lot longer than just 1 hour to cook. I ended up undoing the foil around the loaf so that I'd end up cooking the dip.

Overall, it was a successful Super Bowl party!
