There's a first for everything.

Thursday night lights
And last night was definitely my first MTSU football game. I wish I had words to describe it.

It was definitely different than I expected. Much more laid back. I honestly thought there would be much more tailgating... much more people. But I can say that I'm glad I went! Everyone seem pretty spirited.

It made me miss UT though. More than ever.

Here are some pictures from the game! We all got tshirts earlier in the week under a tent outside the "KUC" (like the UC at UT). They were only $5! Everyone thought we were with some group or organization because we all were wearing the same shirt.

Go Raiders!

Today, I went and volunteered at Homer Pittard Campus School. This past summer I received a letter in the mail from MTSU telling me that I was eligible for a service scholarship for the school year. I didn't apply for this scholarship--it was a total surprise to me--but I'm guessing it was based on my current GPA and community services I've done in the past. Anywho, I looked more into it, and decided I wanted to do it.

It's a really neat program. Each student is assigned to work and volunteer 75 hours (each semester) at a certain area/department associated with the University and in return, you earn "x" amount each semester towards your tuition. I am placed at Homer Pittard Campus School to work with a 3rd grade class! Let me tell you, they are PRECIOUS! It makes me contemplate wanting to teach elementary.

Initially, the school was made so that MTSU faculty/staff could conveniently drop their kids off there for school and have them so close to their work. Now it is open for all students. I know there is a waiting list, so this school is successful, highly thought of, and the students must be pretty top notch, too!

I'm really looking forward to working with the 3rd graders this whole year!

Here's a pic of the school. It's been around since 1911--
since MTSU has been established. It is super
close to campus/my apartment which is
awesomeeeeee!
