Tidbits of James-Mercy Triumphs

Here are some of my favorite quotes, readings, etc. from the study. Some are inferences from the Word, but most are directly from Beth or from people in my small group. These are some great truths, people!

Jesus's goal wasn't to be a public figure-- His goal was to be a personal Savior.

The power of the resurrection means that nothing but the tomb is meant to be empty.

Many would ultimately live because the One humanity sought would die.

The minimum number of children under Mary and Joseph's roof was SEVEN children! (Jesus, James, Joseph, Simon, Judas, + sisters (so at least 2). Wow.)

Younger siblings have accused their older brothers and sisters of playing God, but Jesus wasn't playing. (haha, too good.)

Refereeing is exhausting and uglier in the home than on the court. (I bet lots of people would say "amen" to that.)

The power of the resurrection trumps the power of the past IF we're wiling to let it. (love that)

When, like a laser, the call of Christ sears a hole through your self-protectivness, you go wherever He leads whether or not you feel like you fit.

(From Beth) For instance, once God threw me into the world of women's ministry, my background of childhood abuse was no longer just something Satan orchestrated. It became something God redeemed and used. (LOOOVE THAT!)

Our pain is never wasted when God does something with it. (encouraging)

What he (Satan) means of evil--God sees for good! (!!!!!)

There is power to be celebrated in life change.

James might have been the first book of the New Testament written.

The message of James can be captured in two words: LIVE IT! (Our faith is never more than our words. Be the hands and feet of Christ! Let not only our words be inline with our faith and trust in God, but let our actions as well. How challenging!)

Joy is your birthright in Christ (Praise the Lord!!)

The key to get your joy back is in obedience. (I could eat that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!)
